3rd Division, Intelligence & Information

The 3rd Division is the unit that are responsible of the act of sending out shinigami to gather information, and sometimes work in cooperation with 2nd Division agents on more serious missions. They are also the ones that sort all outgoing and incoming information before sending them to the 12th Division for storage.Adding to this, they are in charge of the jigokuchou monitoring and message system.

Squad 3 the elite suport tactical units in soul society, trained to perform high-risk operations that fall outside of the abilities of regular shinigami, including serving high-risk dangerous assignments, provide assistance, resolve high-risk situations with a minimum loss of life, injury or property damage, Provide additional security at special eventshostage rescue, counter-terrorism, and engaging heavily-armed enemies. They have specialized in the best that shinigami can offer from swordsmanship, kido, medical ability and to simple equipment necessities. Squad 3 apply all the elements the shinigami would posses not limiting itself like the 11 squad division only specialities though there swordsmanship is great, squad 3 is a diversity of all the gotei divisions, to use there special abilities have to use every resource available.

Squad 3 seats are given from volunteers within their squad division. Depending on the captain's policy, shinigami generally have to serve a minimum tenure within the serreti before being able to apply for a specialist section such as squad 3. The fact that Squad 3 member are still law Shinigami and must have a thorough knowledge of serreti policies and procedures.
Squad 3 applicants undergo rigorous selection and training, a combine training similar to the training some the serreti squads. Applicants must pass stringent physical agility, written, oral, and psychological testing to ensure they are not only fit enough but also psychologically suited for tactical operations.
In addition, applicants must successfully pass a stringent background investigation and job performance review. Emphasis is placed on physical fitness so an recruit will be able to withstand the rigors of tactical operations. After an shinigami has been selected, the potential member must undertake and pass numerous specialist courses that will make him or her a fully qualified squad 3 operators. Other training that could be given to potential members includes training in advance kido with permission from the 5th squad captain , special tactics, defensive tactics, first-aid, negotiation, handling squad units, other techniques and the use of specialized weapons and equipment. They may also be trained specifically in the handling certain enemys and the use of crowd control methods, and special less-than-lethal techniques. Of primary importance is close-quarters defensive tactics training, as this will be the primary mission upon becoming a full-fledged squad 3 members.
